It's a start. I think you have a good grasp of the basics. From here, it's time to start dipping your toes into more evocative instruments and melodies. Try to think of something nobody's heard of before. If it sounds terrible at first, that's perfectly okay. You'll learn and develop more as a composer by shooting for the moon and missing.

Ah, Atlan, my old friend.

I think you have a decent setup here, but it's clear that you've a lot to develop when it comes to harmonizing and progression. Also, while the default settings in Sytrus are all well and good, they do tend to be an obvious signifier of an inexperienced composer. As you develop your style, you'll want to develop your own synth "instruments" so to speak, so you can distinguish yourself from other FL Studio users. If you can, go and record sounds that you can turn into instruments, or start bending stuff that you can find royalty-free online. You'll be amazed at the possibilities.

Best of luck, fellow soniteer.

A bit loud and beat-driven for Ambient, but I think this is a very well-done track with a lot of personality. Definitely deserves more attention than it's been given. Keep making music, and you might find your own way beyond the veil, friend.

Only issue is that it kind of ends abruptly. I feel like it could use a revision where the song is allowed to fade out naturally.

Good evocative title with this one. It really gives this otherwise almost basic-sounding drone a bit more weight. I like the use of supporting instruments in this piece as well. Not really what I thought dying would sound like, but it still carves out its own identity nonetheless.

Honestly, this feels more like an instrument test than a proper song. It's not like a song featuring only this instrument couldn't work in theory, but it's going to need a more compelling melody, methinks. In this situation, I like to take inspiration from piano works of the early 20th Century. Perhaps a trip to a few Debussy songs wouldn't hurt? Just a thought.

Tyuikko responds:

no no, you’re very real for this

This song has good space and use of supporting instruments. I just kind of wish the main melody had more going for it. Otherwise, I think it's a well-executed track. Reminds me a bit of C418's style.

eh, goal is to create a nice, calming song. get that its not perfect, doesnt have to be. thx for taking ur time to listen tho :]

The space is good, and so are the instruments. However, it feels more like an experiment than a song. Keep working on your style and melodies, and I think you'll have something here.

Hasidery responds:

Thanks, you're right that it was more experimental, I'm still learning and refining my ability, and this feedback helps. Thank you :)

This is a really good piece of ambiance. I wouldn't mind having this be an interlude piece in my own works. This is the sort of thing I wish there were more of in the "Ambient" category. You got a good style going here. I'll definitely check out more of your works.

I'll go ahead and ignore the long silence at the end for the purpose of this review.

I think the mixing in this track is good, and the instruments are interesting and give it a lot of character. That said, I feel like there was a fair amount of discordance with the song that doesn't feel entirely intentional. It might be worth working on your harmonies for future tracks. Try more playful things that take you out of your comfort zone. If it sounds bad at first, that's alright, but keep playing with it.

thank you so much for your feedback! I'll keep going..
