This reminds me a lot of my early work, and it's certainly not a bad start. You should keep experimenting to see if you can come up with more elaborate soundforms.

The mixing in this track is pretty good, and I am always a fan of these sorts of melty cloud-like songs. However, I feel like a lot of the things you melted into the leading tone did not really mesh all that well. If it were me, I'd take another look at this track and try to create more harmonies between the elements of the piece if you can.

I feel like the instruments could use a little more breathing room in the louder portions of the song, but that is a relatively minor complaint on an otherwise very well-composed piece. You should be proud of what you've made here.

Somnum responds:

Thanks so much for the feedback! and since this one I have definitely been working mixing and how I place my instruments <3

This is actually really really good! I could definitely see myself falling asleep to this on loop. I'll have to keep an eye on you going forward.

Somnum responds:

Sweet that's exactly what I was looking for!

I think it does its job well enough in terms of the essential ingredients for an "epic" cinematic piece. I could see this being used for a NASA promotional video, as its indistinct melody does not get in the way of the message of whatever it would be used in. Were it me, though, I'd probably have made use of stronger brass, particularly for the crescendos.

I would like to see though if you could make a song like this with a more distinct and unique melodic structure and progression. Perhaps it wouldn't be a good cinematic song anymore if you did that, but it might become something more meaningful instead. Up to you, of course.

I'll take your advice in consideration, probably won't change this one, but might post another version of it some time, no promise though, I'll still try to make something else from it. thanks for comment! :)

Nice piece. I suspect it could actually be improved with a sparser but more varied piano melody. Having it sparser would I think give the other instruments and pads more space to breathe. Try it out, anyway, if you are so inclined to.

This piece demonstrates a good sense of progression, and I like all the mellow and smooth instruments you made use of near the end.

Two main points of critique though. The melody is a little simplistic for my taste (though the supporting instruments do a lot to make up for this) and the song's perhaps a bit quieter than it should be. Perhaps a remaster to raise the volume a bit would help, so long as you don't go too far.

All and all, I think you did a good job here.

Pretty outstanding guitar work here. The background noise of chirping birds and gentle breeze also really sells the mood of the track. I look forward to seeing what other melodies you can come up with.

Thomastique responds:

Thank you so much! 😊🎶

Decent composition and workable melody. However, you need to work on your levels and gain. The song is much louder than it should be, and crackles in places. I would suggest using a limiter of some kind.

Work begins on Volume Four.
